My introduction to the hair industry started at home, where my mother worked as a hairdresser and regularly cut, colored, and experimented with my hair, allowing me to be who i wanted to be at a young age. At the same time, I was growing up deeply rooted in Spokane, Washington’s punk rock scene. Going to shows, discovering DIY culture, and finding a sense of belonging among people who were never too concerned with fitting in. That combination gave me a natural path into barbering and eventually led to barber school in Texas.
After getting licensed, I headed west with a dream and the idea that I could build something on my own terms. In Los Angeles, I spent nights screen printing merch in Gardena and days sharpening my craft around some of the city’s most experienced barbers. Those years, along with the DIY mentality Ezra grew up with, became the backbone of Weirdos Barber Collective. A shop built around individuality, community, good haircuts, and making space for people who have always felt a little outside the mold.
